MEET YOUR NEW (shirt) GOD

Ryan and I spoke with Brand X in Tempe today about getting the process to purchase the beefy miracle in shirt form ready to go.

  • “The Mustard Indicates Progress” shirts are available from Brand X at 414 S Mill Ave, which is a quick walk from BYAC.
  • Shirts range from $23-$29, plus tax, based on the quality of shirt you want to buy (from Gildan to Hanes and American Apparel).
  • Please use a black or otherwise dark colored shirt. Otherwise, the text at the bottom will be difficult to read. But really, it’s your choice.
  • Allow for a 24-hour turn around. Brand X is closed on Sundays.

Of course, tomorrow’s Saturday, and a 24-hour turn around with them closed on Sunday means Monday. Some people are leaving before then! That sucks. :) Here’s what you should do: get there as early as possible Saturday (they open at 11am, so we recommend going during the hour we have for lunch) and see if they can possibly rush it to later that night (they close at 9pm)—I haven’t actually asked about this though, so it may not be possible, especially if a ton of people buy these. If you can’t get it by the time you have to fly out, let them know that I will pick it up; they should have my contact information on file. I will take it back to Kansas with me and will let you know how much it will cost to ship to your location. (Yes, I realize that’s a lot of work, but I’m willing to do it. Remember that you’re paying for shipping, not me or Red Hat.) (See below.)

For those that aren’t here in Tempe: I can’t float $30 shirts for very many people, so I won’t be offering any remote orders. I will see if they will accept credit card info if you are extremely adamant about getting a shirt (their payment interface appeared to support it), and then offer the same shipping process for those leaving too early to get their shirts. If they can’t accept credit card info without the plastic in hand, well, you’re SOL.

The shirts are $30 because they create each shirt as a one-off. That’s just the way it is. (I asked if it was because there was a tax on smiling hot dogs in Arizona, but it’s actually the cost of creating a shirt.)

Any questions? The comment form is open.

Edits: Look for the design under “Hot Dog FUDCon.” It’s not under my name, and it’s my fault for not getting it in this blog post. Brand X will ship shirts to you at a flat rate of $10 (I think that’s per shirt), if you’re flying out before you can pick it up.
