Status update

Fedora Wiki: Almost ready to roll. Auth is happy, I’m moving over templates, and once I find my last two icons I should be good.

Life: LAN party at Griffon‘s. Lots of craziness, G33K B33R, random YTMND on a television, trem. Found a new game to package for Fedora, but its gonna be fun, because I have absolutely no clue what their documentation says. wheeeee!

(There are not enough computers down here. Only 6 running… its pretty warm down here, though.)

Griffon made a tower out of Coca-Cola cans, and when he plugs it into his parallel port and runs his C++ program, it has some pretty badass lights. I’ll take a picture sometime.

That’s all from me for now.

OpenID magic

Here’s something really cool I learned today: you can take any URL (that you can add <link> tags to) and make it your OpenID, redirecting to another OpenID.

For example, I wanted to use `http://ianweller.org` as my OpenID, and I already had `http://ianweller.myopenid.com`. So, the solution was to do something like this:

<link rel="openid2.provider openid.server"
href="http://www.myopenid.com/server"/>
<link rel="openid2.local_id openid.delegate"
href="http://ianweller.myopenid.com/"/>

Magic. Beautiful. I love it. :)

Damnit, Microsoft…

About half an hour ago, it has been noticed that one can no longer login to MSN Messenger from BitlBee… or Pidgin, or anything except the official clients, which don’t run on any computers in my house.

Microsoft, it’s time for you to stop doing this. I know you won’t, but if it prevails that you only allow your own clients, there will be a mass movement from the MSN network. There’s no reason to be forced to see ads just to talk to people.

(jabber ftw!)

Fedora 9 is sweeeeet

Just finished doing the preupgrade thing, and I have automatically come to the conclusion that Fedora 9 is amazing beyond recollection. Good job, everyone!

The wallpaper looks so much better when its on my desktop ;)

The only annoyances I have are the noises that occur on certain UI events. Anyone know how to turn those off?

Other than that, its a beautiful OS :)

AP is for "annoying preparation"

I’m currently studying for my AP World History exam. That’s going to be fun (not).

Yesterday, I took my AP Chem exam, and I think I did pretty well. They changed up the open-ended portion, and that might hurt, but I think it’ll hurt everyone evenly, and the grading scale is curved, so it’s all good.

Fedora 9 in one day

Here it comes: Fedora 9. I still can’t wait… I’ve been too busy with school to play around on the beta, preview release, etc… hopefully I’ll have a chance near the end of the week to do a yum upgrade.

What I’m going to be looking at the most is PulseAudio. I’ve had better luck than others with it, however there are just a few minor annoyances that have seemed to get me, such as all the streams stuttering and stopping either when selinux updates from yum or after digging into the swap quite a bit.

Also I will take a look at the new features of GNOME 2.22, most of which I’m excited about.
